FINAL THIRD BACKING FIGHT AGAINST LEUKAEMIA
Final Third Sports Media has chosen to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research as its first ever charity partner.
The partnership will see the award winning sports content specialists focus their fundraising activities on benefiting the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into all blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
The Northamptonshire-based business is planning a number of initiatives to support the charity by raising valuable funds for life-saving research into leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma to improve survival rates for children, teenagers and adults with blood cancer.
Managing Director Chris Rivett commented: "After considering many worthy causes we have pledged our support to helping Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
"With inspirational figures like Sir Ian Botham and Geoff Thomas actively promoting the charity, we intend to tap into our sporting contacts to put further weight behind their fund-raising campaigns, as well as our own, so we can show blood cancer the red card.
"We plan to stage several events to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and will be actively promoting the charity everywhere we go, but in addition to that, we will be donating our time, expertise and services to help win the battle against blood cancer."
Former Crystal Palace captain Geoff Thomas was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) in 2003, less than a year after retiring from football. His life was saved by a stem cell transplant from his sister in 2004 and Geoff is now working closely with Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to get better treatments to blood cancer patients, faster.
Geoff said: “It’s fantastic that Final Third Sports Media are getting behind Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research. I’m lucky to have survived leukaemia – sadly many people still lose their battles with a blood cancer. The courage shown by patients around me has inspired me to do everything I can to help those touched by these awful diseases but I can’t do it without the support of businesses, clubs and fans.”
