RIVETT STRENGTHENS STEELMEN'S BOARD

Corby Town have announced the appointment of Chris Rivett to the board of directors.

Rivett, 32, is the managing director of Northampton-based Final Third Sports Media and previously worked for Northampton Town and Luton Town before setting up his own media company in 2005.

On his appointment, Acting Chairman David Mallinger explained: "We're delighted that Chris has accepted our offer to join the board. Graham and I have known Chris for over a decade and his experience and contacts will be of great benefit to the club.

"Through his business and the work they do for the Football League and the Professional Game Match Officials he is in daily contact with the offices of the Football League and the Premier League and their member clubs. We aspire to have as professional set-up at Corby as we can within our budget and the knowledge he has is essential to us achieving that.

"Chris and his team at Final Third have been working diligently in the background on a number of projects in the last six months and we are delighted with what he has contributed to the club in that short space of time. His appointment takes us to a board of five directors and Chris will specifically take on responsibility for the club's media and communications operation within that set-up."

"It is a privilege to be invited to join the board of the football club," Rivett commented. "Since the turn of the year I have seen firsthand how determined everyone associated with the club is to take Corby Town forward and I very much look forward to being part of the team."

CORBY TOWN BECOME FIRST NON-LEAGUE CLUB TO LAUNCH SMART PHONE APP

Corby Town have launched their new smart phone app on Apple and Android platforms, and in doing so have become the first club outside the top two divisions of English football to have their own dedicated handheld portal.

A number of professional clubs appear on a Football League app but with Leeds United believed to be the biggest team in the country to have their own independent app that solely features only their club news, it means the Steelmen have made history with the launch of their new app as not only the first non-league team, but also the biggest outside the npower Championship, to have one.

The new app features club news, photos and videos but plans are in place to evolve beyond that as the new season dawns. It is available to download now on both Apple's iTunes and Android's market place.

On announcing the launch of the app Director Graham Starmer commented: "We are very confident that the free app will prove popular with supporters and when the new season kicks-off they'll be a further update to include player profiles, fixtures and league table functionality within it.

"This is one of a number of innovative and ground breaking ideas we have been working on and we're grateful, once again, for the support and hard work of our media partners, Final Third Sports Media, in ensuring that this has been possible. It is our aim to set the standards at Corby Town, both on and off the field, and we feel that we have done that with the launch of this app.

"Everyone at the club is very excited ahead of our first season in our new stadium and we would encourage supporters to download the app and to keep logged on to the official website, www.corbytownfc.co.uk, for all the latest news as we near the dawn of a new era."

ONLINE STADIA DIRECTORY LAUNCHED

Final Third Sports Media Limited is pleased to announce the official launch of a new stadium directory website.

The online resource located at www.stadiadirectory.com contains information and news about stadiums around the world.

As well as everything you'll ever need to know about the venue, the site provides regular updates on the latest stadia news and international developments.

Final Third Sports Media Managing Director Chris Rivett explained: "Having identified a need for such a site whilst doing some research for a client, we decided to put it there. I am aware that this is a really ambitious project but we are aiming to catalogue every stadium in the world, giving fans all the information they need to know about venues around the world.

"StadiaDirectory.com is not here to compete with Wikipedia but to complement sites like that; what we're aiming to do is provide a central resource with key information about every ground, stadium and arena in the world and provide a site that will benefit thousands of people the world over.

"This isn't something that is going to happen overnight but having decided to embark on this project we saw little point in waiting until we had listed every ground and arena in the world before we launched. We believe we have got StadiaDirectory.com to a suitable position to launch and for the site be useful to people but this is very much work in progress and will remain so for some time."

Stadia Directory is big on fan participation; the site provides a platform to share the truly special experiences that mass audiences bring to stadiums. Visitors to the site are encouraged to contribute their own photos and videos to capture the unique atmosphere of each venue within the individual stadium pages.

The site offers something for everyone with an interest in stadiums. Although largely focused on the B2C market, it is used in equal measures by fans, suppliers, clubs and stadium management staff. With strong partnerships with media groups and industry associations Stadia Directory also develops B2B relationships.
